Qais Ulfat

Qais Ulfat, son of Ustad Ulfat Ahang was born in Kabul to a family with extensive musical background. As a result of the ongoing war in Afghanistan, Qais and his family were forced to abandon his birthplace and relocate to New Delhi, India. Upon their settlement in India, Qais with the help and guidance of his father began singing and playing harmonium at the early age of 5. He also started learning the art of playing tabla from his Uncle, Ustad Fazel Ahmad. After relocating to Canada, which is his current home away from home, Qais pursued music as a career and began to play keyboard and arrange music for some well-known Afghan Artists.


He officially launched his artistic career as a Singer in 2008 with his first hit single "Chashmaane Mast", followed by "Mowje Gul" in 2010. Qais has released two hit duets titled "Shere Asheqana" in 2011 and "Dil" in 2012 both of which were very well received by the audience. His latest work "Ashiqi" which is collaboration with talented Afghan Artists Shekeb Osmani and Ghezaal has become an instant hit and currently plays on various TV and Radio stations Afghanistan-wide.


His deep knowledge and understanding of music has given him the ability to sing in various genres, such as Semi-Classical, Light Ghazal, Ghazal and Pop. With his unique voice and singing style as an Artist and deep knowledge of music, Qais Ulfatwill be one of the Team Captains of 6 contestants in the new music show “SUPERSTAR” this season, to discover the best voice among the contestants.
